Before Sugarloaf Studios was born in Valdez, Alaska Ron had spent a year doing free lance photography in the SF Bay area. This is a blog post he wrote about work he did for Arran Stephens for an important show that he hung in Batman Gallery in Nov. 1963.

Jennifer and I loved our relationship with Elise Vaughn and it was a great honor to prepare this video from the photos that her husband Paul helped us obtain, order and caption. Rest in peace Dear Elise.

I'm sharing the class notes and slide show for my recent class, "Introduction to Digital Photography" (PDF) and a bunch of links to websites of interest. The links are on a website we hope to build out in the future.

Did you know that photographer's are given a special dispensation for turning their hats backwards? Yes, true, the bill can push the pop up flash out of position on a Pentax.
A sunrise to go with the sunset on our new banner. This is from our 2012 photo trip to SE Alaska via the Alaska Ferry System. This batch of photos needs to be turned into a portfolio.

Some of us of the REEL Friends gathered to watch or re-watch a couple of great music documentaries. Great eats and wonderfully hosted by Kathy and Ted Dorn.
Mark Lewis celebrates the Season with trio members Ted Enderle on bass and Richard Person on brass at Los Corales.
James, I normally only do portraits of sculptures but apparently on occasion you got in the way. 😉 -- Here then are a few to consider for the new web.

Judy added her great voice to an evening of Jazz at Los Corales and then there was a Birthday to Celebrate in the back room as well -- Happy Birthday Mark!

A real pleasure to attend this opening for Los Corales. I've been getting to know the owners over the last two years and they are a treasure, both for their warmth, great food and their hosting of many of Mark Lewis' jazz shows in Kitsap County.
Mariachi Ayutla, the best mariachi group I've had the pleasure of hearing entertained for the Grand Opening of my favorite Mexican Restaurante, Los Corales in Keyport WA.
Taken on the Opening Day for SkatePark at South Kitsap Regional Park in Port Orchard, Saturday 6/22/13. Don't sit too close to the bowl!

Working on converting a big fat PDF to a web sized one for Kitsap Historical Society & Museum. Last year the one they used was 1.6MB, this one is 0.35MB and loads really fast on my home system.

I was much impressed with the Suquamish Museum and did some shooting there on two occasions. A good place for my wide angle lens and my 50mm prime. Turned it into a video 1080p slideshow with tricks learned from Laura Shoe via CreativeLive's training earlier this week, thank you. So far it is just uploaded to my personal Facebook page, but think Vimeo or YouTube later. — at Suquamish Museum.

Another Album up for Mark Lewis! Mark Lewis and Michel Powers are a great pair on stage making jazz.
Mobster Mike's had a full house to hear these two master musicians with a little help from Rhonda Stewart and Patch Kyaio play a host of great jazz numbers. Everybody left ready to celebrate New Years a few days later.

Set of performance photos of Mark Lewis live at El Coral in Bremerton were posted today to Mark Lewis' music page on Facebook.
When Rhonda sent out her email that Charles Gaines and Rick White would join Mark Lewis and Michael Powers to make a Quartet--that was exciting news. The reality, adding Rhonda on flute and two more drummers, Janelle Howard and Gary Kiggins, sitting in, was beyond exciting. So glad I could be here to snap a few photos!
